Toensing Construction is a residential remodeling company serving homeowners across Rhode Island. We specialize in the kind of careful, detail-oriented work that makes a house feel more like the home it was meant to be.
Toensing Construction creates thoughtfully built and beautifully crafted homes for Rhode Island families through skilled carpentry, transparent communication, and detail driven project management. As a community centered company, we believe construction should feel collaborative, organized, and personal while creating spaces families will enjoy for generations.

Colby Toensing founded Toensing Construction on a simple belief: a remodel should feel as good to live through as the finished work looks. As owner and lead carpenter, he personally leads each project from the first walkthrough to the final detail, bringing a carpenter's eye to every cut, joint, and finish.
Based in Warren, Rhode Island, Colby works directly with homeowners across the East Bay and beyond. When you hire Toensing Construction, you are working with the person doing the work, not just managing it, and that is what keeps both the craftsmanship and the communication personal.
Toensing Construction was founded by Colby Toensing and is based in Warren, Rhode Island. We work with homeowners throughout the East Bay and across the state, taking on remodeling and carpentry projects that require both skill and care to do right.
Our work spans a wide range: historic home restoration, kitchen and bathroom remodels, ADU construction, custom built-ins and millwork, decks and porches, and more. What ties all of it together is an approach built on precision, honest communication, and a genuine interest in making each project better than the homeowner imagined.
We take on a focused number of projects at a time so that every client gets real attention throughout the process, not just at the beginning and the end.
We pay close attention to fit, finish, and the details that separate good work from great work. That standard applies equally to a small trim repair and a full kitchen remodel.
We communicate the plan, the options, and the timeline clearly before work begins and throughout the project, so there are no surprises and you always know where things stand.
We price work fairly and stand behind our estimates. If something changes in scope, we discuss it openly before proceeding, not after the fact.
Toensing Construction is based in Warren, RI and works with homeowners across the East Bay and statewide. Our primary service area includes Warren, Barrington, Bristol, Portsmouth, Tiverton, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Jamestown, East Providence, Providence, Cranston, Warwick, East Greenwich, North Kingstown, Narragansett, South Kingstown, and Exeter.
If your project is in Rhode Island and you are not sure whether we cover your area, reach out. We are happy to discuss your project and let you know if we can help.

"From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and truly collaborative. One of the things that impressed us most was the attention to detail. To make sure the new built-in matched our existing woodwork, he went above and beyond, mixing multiple stains until he achieved the perfect color match. That level of care and precision really sets his work apart."
