This Middletown backyard shed had been sitting unused for years, structurally sound but rough around the edges. The homeowners wanted a bright, usable studio space without the cost and permitting complexity of a full accessory dwelling unit build, so we focused on converting the existing structure rather than starting from scratch.
We replaced the old windows and exterior door with new units that let in real daylight, a six-lite entry door and divided-light windows that make the small building feel open rather than like a converted shed. Along the way we found and repaired rot in the framing that would have caused bigger problems down the line if left alone. Inside and out, the structure was refreshed with clean white paint, which does a lot of work to make a small space feel larger and more finished.
