A busy entryway needs a place for coats, bags, and shoes to land, and this custom mudroom built-in was designed to do exactly that. We built a white shiplap back wall as the backdrop, a detail that adds texture and a classic New England look without overwhelming the space.
Above, open cubby shelving gives the household a spot to drop hats, gloves, and everyday items, while a row of black hooks below handles coats and bags at an easy reach. A stained wood bench sits on top of a clean white base, giving family members a place to sit while putting on or taking off shoes, and doubling as a visual anchor that warms up the otherwise white-and-black palette.
Built-ins like this one solve a real daily problem: entryway clutter. By designing storage specifically for how a family actually uses the space, coats hung, shoes off, bags stowed, the mudroom becomes a functional transition zone instead of a pile-up spot by the door.
